Coolangatta, in particular Kirra Beach is by far one of my favourite places. I first fell in love with the area after spending time there with my school friend many Easter’s ago.
So when I heard about the Sway on Sunset Parade coming up at the Komune Resort as part of the Bleach Festival, I automatically jumped at the opportunity to become involved working backstage. I thought, what better way to spend my weekend then working; doing what I love as well as combining it with travel (my first back packing experience mind you) and the Quicksilver Roxy Pro surf carnival.
The show was a damp one with non stop pouring rain. However, this wasn’t enough to make it a show-stopper. The models walked barefoot on the catwalk and did an ever so professional job of helping to showcase the beautiful garments from designers Arkive True Vintage, Love St, Emma Milkins, Lisa Brown and Love Bird.
Out of the many pieces modelled, these were just two of my favourites. I love the colours!
One of the highlights of working backstage at this event was the opportunity to work alongside Kim Bailey, Business Owner of East of Grey as well as Julia Rose, Wedding Floral Designer, who have since become my good friends from meeting them volunteering at fashion events. We make a good team!
Backstage after the parade, we were privileged to hang out with Ginger & The Ghost, Komune Resorts official after party performers. If you ever get the chance to see them live, I would highly recommend it. Great on stage presence and sound.Nat xx
