Gorgeous model Alicia celebrates the end of an amazing show. Make up by the girls from Motives, using Motives Cosmetics. Lips: Motives glitter pot in ‘Celebrate’. The look for the night was high fashion hair and make up. Other models also wore ‘gold rush’ eyeshadow on the lips.
I was assisting backstage before the event kicked off and had the opportunity to take photos up and close with the models.Models Cammie Nott, Ashleigh Hunt and Dannielle Sloane dressed in Alexandra McGuire swim wear. Alexandra is an up and coming fashion talent that Brisbane is certainly lucky to have. She made these prints as well as sewed them. Alexandra said she got the inspiration for these while in India as the road trucks there are painted in bright beautiful colours. Alexandra was in India for five months studying at the National Institute of Fashion Technology after winning a scholarship at the Queensland University of Technology.
Vanessa is a Brissy local and has been designing for five years. She launched this collection in January and opened her online store a month ago. Vanessa said she really loves using plastic and tassels and suspends these onto her garments as well as designs her own accessories. I’m with Vanessa wearing one of her pieces.
Model Jana Robinson with designer Undral Altan from the label Undral. She has been designing for two years and studied at Brisbane’s Metropolitan South Institute Tafe. Undral describes her collection as modern retro vintage style. Her pieces are available for sale at UrsaLady Creations in Stones Corner.
After the show the designers set up stall on the balcony of the GPO Hotel to give catwalk watchers the chance to get a closer look at the garments and the opportunity to buy them.Lexi Evelyn Curtis Wittke with happy buyers at her pop up store.
Overall the show was a great success. The designers although young are nothing short of talent.
If anything, I walked away from this evening feeling very inspired to keep going with getting this blog up and running and polishing my skills in photography and obtaining experience in events.
These designers prove that if you have an idea for something, you should just go ahead and do it. Live your dream everyday and be prepared to work hard for it.
