The University of Queensland Oxfam UQ group transformed their room last Friday night into a runway and had more than 100 people attend “Being the Change: Inside Fashion Revolution” all in support of “Fashion Revolution”.
For those that don’t know, Fashion Revolution was born after 1133 people were killed and over 2500 injured when the Rana Plaza collapsed in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 24 April last year. Check out this video I first came across from a Sydney fashion designer ‘Lottie and Grey’ with her take on it)
In doing some research I have found fashion labels and people from around the world are spreading this Fashion Revolution awareness asking people to ask themselves “who made your clothes?” and to start wearing their clothes “inside out” in support of better treatment for garment workers.
The event was supported by the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand and gave attendees the chance to see and support Brisbane ethical fashion designers, Sinerji, Eco Bird, Maison Briz Vegas, Tahlia Hays and One Colour.
As usual I made lots of new friends at this event. I’m proud they are friends who are interested in helping to make the world a more sustainable place!
