Hanging with a bunch of lovely Brisbane people on a Friday night to support local talent was just the perfect way to end the working week!
Every time I go to the Raw Brisbane showcases I am always blown away by the amazing talent we have here, especially from the young artists who some have only just come out of school.
For instance Suzii from Suzii K the label is only 19 and will this month be showcasing her new Spring/Summer 2015 collection at the Mercedes-Benz Brisbane Fashion Festival. And, if that isn’t enough for her to be over the moon about, she has also been invited to showcase at New York Fashion Week next month!
Suzii tells me she got lucky with the opportunity after meeting the right contacts when volunteering at the Sydney Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in March. I told Suzii, she is going places regardless because her designs are excellent (see below).
Above, models with designer Suzii and make up by Rachael Appleyard of Rachael Make Up Artist.
A visual artist that was selling prints on the night like hot cakes, so to speak, was Celeste Roddom (below). You can give her anything, you name it and she’ll draw it. A popular purchase among the ladies was a drawing of the Chanel perfume bottle.
I had a chat with 23 year old Ashleigh Newbery (below) who uses resin for her art works. I’d never seen this done before but it looks really cool.
Designer Kate Clark from Kabel apparel presented a fresh collection of white. Everyone keeps saying white is going to be big this next Spring Summer season.

Above, hats off to Emma Kelly from initial e. Her drawings (above) are literally thousands of tiny tiny dots drawn of course hand made and sold into prints.
A wall of colour and characters was the go for Lauren (below) of Artwork by Lauren. The prints are around A4 size and also come in smaller fridge magnet sizes, so they’d make the perfect gift.
It was great to see a men’s and women’s range back in the Raw showcase, below is Elbow Grease Clothing. The guys got the ladies all excited with loud cheers from the crowd every time they busted a move.
Local fashion designer Yasmine Moussalli presented her collection for the label MYNE the label, with makeup by Amy Tsai.
Lastly, Wendy Donellan Art (pictured below) was another of Raw artists on showcase. Wendy said she recently travelled to France to showcase some of her works. No matter what she paints, she always tries to use lots of colour in her work.
