Everyone takes photos for different reasons, and for me it’s certainly about the opportunity to meet as many new and diverse people, who help me, to not only learn about fashion, but also the world around us.
When going through an old hard drive of photos the other night, I made an amazing discovery that brought back the same overwhelming feelings of joy I had when on my very first solo overseas trip to South Korea.
I had found some never before seen photos that I had shot while at my first Seoul Fashion Week held at the IFC Mall.
Happy was an understatement! That trip was so overwhelming in the most largest of life positive ways, and is and will continue to be one of the biggest highlights of my life.
How is that this foreign city, and people I’d never met before and could barely communicate with because of the language barrier have such an effect on me.
I’d have people coming up to me on the street only after being there two days calling out my name. Admittingly in those 48 hours I swear I had spoken to that many people that it was impossible to remember everyone’s names. Thank you to everyone who made me feel so welcome.
This trip taught me a number of things. One of them being that language doesn’t have to stop you from finding a way to connect with people.
I felt most at home in Seoul because you could clearly see everyone took care of each other like they were brothers and sisters and were honest. I will continue to rave, rave, rave about my love for you.
What I have told everyone about Seoul, is that what you on the catwalks, is what people on the streets are wearing everyday and more. You guys don’t just dress up to go to a fashion week. Fashion is part of your life everyday and it is not forced. Even when when you go shopping and clubbing you still manage to make sneakers with any outfit look AMAZING.
I just want to go back there now….
